Bird watching cruises
Dinner/Lunch cruises
Commercial transfers and industrial contracts

Karumba is a small town in the Gulf of Carpentaria whose population swells during the winter months as everyone flees the south and heads north.
This is a very unique area with abundant wildlife (salt water crocs, osprey, dugong, sea eagles etc.) and many varieties of fish (blue salmon, king salmon, grunter, spanish mackerel, schooling mackerel, giant queenfish, cobia and of course barramundi)
We do NOT over book our vessels as to maintain our level of service, baiting hooks, a smile and a chat and an encouraging word. Helps make our trips a trip of a life time.
Generally, our clients crave a feed of fish that they’ve caught in the Gulf, our target species are usually the salmon varieties with also schooling mackerel as well in late July and August.  Because of our dedication to service we do have quite a few who wish to specifically target “game” fish. These include Spanish mackerel, cobia and occasionally barramundi (although we do try to deter the latter in the cold months as they can be quite difficult- they really are a warm water fish)
We also get a good number of full day charters and ours really are full day (not 2 x ½ days) usually small numbers of 2 or 4 friends who get together and want to try the reef or head up north to somewhere they can’t normally get to in their tinnies.
Your responsibilities will be as skipper of The Ferryman II (6m fiberglass southwind) and Temptation 8m plate alloy for Fishing Charters and Croc spotting cruises and also for crewing opportunities on our larger vessel.

The Ferryman is a drug and alcohol free workplace.

While in command of the vessel there is to be

ZERO alcohol. Zero drugs, No smoking, No swearing   NO EXCEPTIONS
You will be working unsupervised so you will be expected to take initiative to complete the trip as per brief.
Species and local knowledge training will be provided.
Single air-conditioned accommodation with swimming pool, power and YFI included.
I am not your mother, so you will be expected to look after yourself although lunch etc. is provided on full day charters.
Please do not ring as we are busy in the past its been invariably in the middle of a trip so email  us your resume and a bit about yourself and we will get back to you to arrange a time convenient to both of us to chat on the phone
If you have any other questions feel free to email and ask
